The Mount Sinai Medical Center’s 24th Annual Crystal Ball “Laughter is the Best Medicine”

The Mount Sinai Medical Center held its 24th annual Crystal Ball “Laughter is the Best Medicine” on Thursday, May 7, 209 at the Conservatory Gardens in Central Park at Fifth Avenue and 105th Street.

The Crystal Ball was relocated from its traditional venue in the Guggenheim Pavilion at Mount Sinai to the stunning Central Park Conservatory Gardens as a precaution due to the recent flu in the area.

The event was attended by 1,200 guests and raised over $2.8 million which goes toward research initiatives at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. The dinner chairmen were trustee, Eric Mindich, and his wife, Stacey. Young Friends Chairmen, Kipton Cronkite, Aryn and Matthew Grossman, Wesley and Evan LePatner, Sarina and Kasra Sanandaji, Ellen and Teddy Schwarzman, Lauren Hochfelder Silverman and Alexander Silverman, and Andrew B. Steinau, co-chaired the event bringing hundreds under the age of 35 to support the evening. Comedienne and talk show host Joy Behar entertained the guests who were also greeted by Senator Charles Schumer.

The Mount Sinai Medical Center encompasses The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai School of Medicine. About Young Friends of Mount Sinai

The mission of the Young Friends of Mount Sinai is to engage professional men and women in their 20's and 30's as supporters and future leaders of The Mount Sinai Medical Center.

When The Mount Sinai Hospital was created in 1852, its founders recognized the importance of providing service to society and educating people on the efforts taking place at the institution. The Young Friends follow in this tradition of advocacy and charity through educational and fundraising events. Young Friends have the opportunity to connect with various aspects of Mount Sinai - from learning about cutting-edge medicine to seeing first hand how it fits into the landscape of global health care today and helps make a difference in people’s lives

Each year the Young Friends select a specific Mount Sinai program or department to support through their fundraising activities.
